Conciliation Resources (CR) was established in 1994 to provide practical and sustained assistance to people and groups in areas of armed conflict or potential violence, who work at community or national levels to prevent violence or transform conflict into opportunities for social, economic and political development based on more just relationships. Where mechanisms for effective participation are non-existent or weak, sustained conflict transformation support implies providing opportunities to build or strengthen civic capabilities for dialogue and problem solving, locally, nationally and sometimes regionally. CR employs 15 staff members in London and 10 in Sierra Leone. Charity status was obtained in May 1996 (no.1055436). CR is funded from a diverse donor base including governmental institutions such as the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, Swedish Sida and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, private donors and foundations. KM has worked with CR since 1998 and has an office within CR’s premises in London. The partnership is extremely beneficial to both organisations and has provided many new contacts for KM and its partners in Uganda. CR also provides invaluable technical advice and support to KM, its intermediaries and partners. |
